Women are allowed to play a greater role in the U.S. military and other public sectors. Homosexuals are now recognized as people who should have the right to live how they want (now, if only politics would catch up). Black people are gaining economic power. At least, a small part of American population is starting to recognize that people in third world countries are just as much people as the citizens of America are.

Who's to say it has got better in the last 30 years. While some of us may be able to say yes to this question many by the same token can say no to this same question. When we say better what do we mean do we have more money than 30 years ago, are the pleasures in our life better than they were 30 years ago or do I have more things than 30 years ago. Yes to some of us this may mean that things are better than they were 30 years ago. But by the same token is the air or water cleaner than it was 30 years ago, are people less victimized populations than there were 30 years ago or are there opportunities across the board for all individuals regardless of what differences they might have

It hasn't. I'm old enough to remember what it was like to live in a free society. I've been watching personal freedom disappear for the past 30 years.

It hasn't. It's become steadily worse since we've stuck to methods of employment, education, and government services that are outmoded by 40 years. There's still rascism, there's still sexual discrimination, there's still poverty in this country; there's still crime, drug problems, homelessness, and a rise in broken families and communities. If something doesn't change, and real soon, we are going to be mowed under by the East as a world power.
