L'Oreal is a great drugstore brand, MAC is also really good. Both are around Clinique prices, and L'Oreal is even lower.
If you're willing to spend big bucks, most of the elite department store brands have quality products, such as Chanel, Dior, and Bobbi Brown. Just go to counters and ask for applications (they're usually free), the person will apply the product you wish to try onto you, so you can test it out. If not, you can usually get a refund. Ask first to be safe though.
Good sites are: Amazon.com and MakeupAlley.Com. Read the customer reviews for extra help.
Peace and good luck!

Oh my - let me tell you - I started using Bare Escentuals in January and have almost the entire collection now! I LOVE IT! You can start out with the starter kit, you get two foundations - you usually have to mix them a bit to get the right color - its so simple! You get Warmth - which looks dark but it isn't - it just adds a natural sunlight look to you. You get Mineral Veil - it perfects your look and gives you that smooth finish : )
You get three brushes - the brushes are unlike any other - don't try any imitations - the B.E. brushes are wonderful! You usually get a starter DVD also - you will watch it the first couple times you put it on - I remember I panicked and thought Id never remember the order to put it on : )
I put mine on a little heavier than the DVD suggests - it works well for me.
They are on QVC all the time, so check QVC for great deals : )
I have almost all of my friends and co-workers wearing B.E. now - we are addicted : )
I think my favorite would be the Well Rested for your eyes - no matter how tired you are - you put that around your eyes and you look...well...well rested!
Oh - and the Bisque - it covers trouble spots - liver spots - blemishes - dark circles and other things : )
It DOESN'T come off when you sweat - its safe to sleep in!
I cant say enough about this make up - try it - you will LOVE it!
Oh - and don't panic - your face might feel a little dry the first 3 - 4 days that you use it - but it will go away!
Hope this helps -
~ B.E. NUT! : )

I know a lot of people don't like them, but I enjoy using Mineral makeup. The most popular is the Bare Escentuals, which can be pricey but there are some other brands out there that have more natural ingredients and/or are less expensive for the same quality.

I used to use Clinique, but since I've discovered mineral make-up, I'll never go back to liquid or cream foundation again. I love Jane Iredale's pressed mineral foundation. It's also a concealer as well. It makes your skin absoutely flawless & you just cant get it wrong. Physician's Formula also makes pressed mineral wear foundation sold at drug stores that's not as expensive. I use Physican's Formula sometimes, but I love my Jane Iredale. It's sold in salons for about fifty bucks but I get mine on eBay for about twenty-five bucks. A little tip use a brush to apply it not the sponge.

i use prescriptives anywear multi-finish foundation. believe me when i say it's the best because i have sensitive+acne prone skin and i tried countless brends( chanel, clinique, lancome, LM, covergirl, loreal, maybelline, Bare Escentuals, everyday minerals, jane iredale, benefit,...etc.) NOTHING works as great as prescriptives anywear. it's a powder foundation, which i was afraid to try coz to me powder would either dry up my face or make it cakey, flaky, and looks unnatural or takes so much time to apply. but this one doesn't. it only takes seconds to apply and gives great coverage with extremely natural look. not too matte or too glowing. the review on makeupalley.com was pretty high so i decided to give it a try and it is really worth every single buck.

When I comes to makeup I've used expensive and cheap. Here's what I found.
Eyeshadow-MAC hands down.
Mascara-Cover girl exact lash (better than lancome)
Lip gloss- Clinique superbalm (my fave.)
foundation- I gave up on foundation and concealer and focused on my skin. It's worth investing in your skin just washing, toner, exfoliating, moisturizing (even for oily skin) on a daily basis works wonders.

I went from Clinique foundation to Merle Norman foundation and now I use Revlon ColorStay Soflex foundation. It's lightweight and still covers really well. I still use Merle Norman powder to set it.

the 1st time in my life I even have broken down and offered a branch save variety makeup and that i could not be happier. i eventually get what everyone seems to be speaking approximately whilst they are asserting branch save manufacturers are extra useful the drug save manufacturers. The diffrence is dazzling! I in basic terms those days started utilising MAC Studio restoration commencing up. it extremely is approximately $25 a bottle, yet i discover i don't bypass by way of it as speedy. a sprint is going an prolonged way the place as whilst i grew to become into utilising drug save manufacturers I had to apply alot extra to get the assurance i elect and could desire to combination and canopy all my imperfections. Plus it variety of feels to regulate oil plenty extra useful whilst i take advantage of it with the blot powder. I in basic terms could desire to touch up 2-thrice extremely of five-6. stable success!
