The first place I would look is the fuse box. It might be under the dash in front of where the drivers legs would be. If not look in the glove box. If the fuses are all good, it could be the bulbs have burnt out one at a time so you didn't notice the lights were getting steadily dimmer.

Check all your fuses, on that model, the should be located under the drivers side dash, close to the door. If all fuses check out good, check the bulbs. if the bulbs are ok, the wiring could be a problem, or even something as stupid as a bad headlight switch (thats why the dash lights in my 1990 chevy c2500 wouldnt work)

if they all are not working, you should check the fuses first. They are normally located near the footwell on the drivers side in most cars. If it is one or 2 not working, the bulbs may be out.
