Rebbeca, before you do anything else, do the following:

HOW TO DO A THOROUGH CLEAN UP (Windows XP)
While you are connected to the Internet do the following:
1. Click on tools ... Internet options. There you will see three buttons next to each other... "Delete Cookies" ... "Delete Files" and "Settings." Also, below the settings button you will see another one "Clear history."
2. Click on "settings" - go to "Edit" - Click on "select all" - Go to files, click delete and wait till all Internet trash files are gone.
3. Go back and click on "delete cookies" and wait till all cookies are gone
4. Go back and click on "Delete files," put a check mark on the little white square shown on the small window that will open, click OK and wait for a little.
5. Go back and click on "Clear history", click “yes” and you are done.
6. Now do a check disk and a defrag, then restart your computer and see if the problem is resolved.
7. If the problem persists, get on the internet and look in the Yahoo search for the Tune-Up Utilities 2006 site; go to that site and download their free trial program, familiarize your self with it and use it to clean up your registry automatically. It is an excellent little program and does wonders with PC maintenance tasks along many other helpful and useful chores.
8. If all fails go to control panel … add / remove programs … make sure that "Show Updates" is checked, at the top of the list, then highlight the IE7 and click to remove. Restart your computer and it should revert to IE6.

Hope this helps

I would agree, the new IE7 is not as good as I hoped it would be. Unfortunately, when you downloaded it, it just updated your system, making it hard to remove.
One way you can do it easily is by going to System Restore, and restoring it to the time before you installed the browser.
Another way is to uninstall IE completely, if possible, and find a site where you can download the old version, as I'm afraid they may not have it on Microsoft, or whatever the official site of IE is.

Its really quite simple, seeing how it did the exact same thing to me... First, click on the START menu; SET PROGRAM ACCESS AND DEFAULTS; then click on the box that says, CHANGE OR REMOVE PROGRAMS; then you want to make sure that a little box is clicked where it says "Show Updates" just in case if it doesn't have it there... anyway, there should be a program saying "WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER 7", just click on it, and on the bottom right hand corner, click REMOVE...and there you go...

if you can't find it that way then try START menu; then CONTROL PANEL; then click on ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS, then follow all steps above...

well i hope this helps... because it did for me when I wanted to get rid of IE7...

**ALSO TOO, YOU GOT TO REMEMBER THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER INTERNET BROWSER (Firefox, Netscape, AOL) THAT WAY YOU'LL BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF INTERNET EXPLORER, IF YOU CHOOSE**

Click on "start" then go to "my computer"
Now click on "help" to open the help page.
Now type SYSTEM RESTORE in the search space.
When it comes up there should be a choice to restore your computer to an earlier time.
Pick something a day or two before you downloaded IE7 and have it reset your comp to that time.
I had to do this, IE 7 just annoyed me.
