I want to buy a new X5. I see the american version is cheaper and better equiped (xenon, metalic paint, alarm, premium sound etc come standard). Eventually I may go back to europe and I wonder whether it would be very difficult and expensive to have the car converted to european spec in order to import it into europe.
Thanks a lot

that would cost you a small fortune. while you wouldnt need the change the side the wheel was on you'd obviously need to change the number plate, attatchments, filters etc. not to mention the actual cost of having it shipped - which would be thousands. it would work out cheaper to buy one in the USA, sell it when you leave and buy a new one there. it's fussy, but it's the cheapest way.

just think about what you wont be able to di. i dont know where to plan to stay in europe, but ur obviously not going to be able to move the steering column, so you will kinda have a unique car over there. you can sway out your rear lamps to make them clear, and then probably switch out your speedometer to make is km/h. you can buy rectangular licence plate holders for like $13. so it will probably cost like 600-700 for new lights and new speedometer background

the fee to make it proper for pollution specs makes it a bad invesment, there are autos in australia that get 3 to 4 circumstances the mileage as our very own,yet they won't bypass pollution inspections so the U. S. will by no ability deliver them right here
