Late at night I have a raccoon digging under my home. I have heard to get rid of them you can use coyote urine to make them feel threatened and they pack up and find a different home. Has anyone ever used coyote urine? If so did it work? Are there any other methods that were successful for you without hurting them? Please help before they have babies under my house!!

Well, if you're brave enough to ask a coyote for a urine sample, then you should be able to face a raccoon, which is smaller, and even wears a mask. Don't be getting all stressed out looking for witchcraft remedies. Call the Humane Society, and they will rent you a humane trap to catch the thing, and then it will be taken away and released into the wild. (Or dispatched to a haute cuisine restaurant for its soup de jour. I would think that it would be dark meat, with a garbage pail kind of flavour...) I have raccoons in my neighbourhood; just don't leave your garbage lying around and board up all your access places. Even screen your chimney; I had one neighbour who had one get into her house through the chimney--she thought it was a burglar because it was wearing a mask... Well, the first part is true, anyway. Anyway, with all the building going on and the natural areas disappearing, animals are being forced into city areas. It's one of those things that we'll just have to get used to over time. Good luck. (And whatever you do, don't corner one of the things, or they'll fight back.)

The best way to get rid of them would be to trap them and release them somewhere else. I would advise calling the conservationist if you don't know how to trap it on your own. I live in Missouri and there are TONS and TONS of those little (cute) beasts around here. They are troublesome! Definitely don't leave scraps of food or dog/cat food out, because they will stay around your house eating it. They are mean (and carry lots of diseases) so I wouldn't advise trying to have your pet kill it. I would try to get it to stop digging ASAP as it could cause foundation problems? Are you sure it's a raccoon also? In my neighborhood here in MO, (we live by a wooded area) we have had a few groundhogs. They can really do some damage to your home, and are also extremely mean. Your best bet is to call the conservationist!

Hard to get a coyote to pee in a cup. A wire live trap works well but costs 50 bucks.Your local DNR office can be contacted and they will come out and trap it as long as you're not feeding birds, ect. They're atracted to the seed.

Call your local extension office. They will offer sound advice. You can call Animal Control in your area and may even bring some live traps to your home.
But I am so intrigued on how you get your coyote urine. Please post a reply how you acquire it.

Find out where it is digging and how it is getting into there and spray vinegar or ammonia on and around there. Those smells will not make it want to come back

I would get a live trap cage and put kitty food in there and capture them and relocate them in a forrest some where .. that way your not harmeing them and putting them in a nicer friendly envirement for them to survive in

Who wore the raccoon skin hat, Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett? Anyway, they're both American, so you're probably one too. You get to own guns, so my advice is: catch the varmits in a metal cage trap, then shoot them with a .22 pistol until they're dead. Then bury them in the garden with a shovel.

There should be a wild life refuge somewhere near you. Call them and they will come out.
