Fake one since I became more environmentally aware. But yeah, I do miss the smell of a real tree. (Though I don't miss the pine needles in my carpet.)

FAKE! LOL! The reason being... they just aren't as messy to clean up! They don't lose needles and don't have all that sap to worry about. Plus they are much easier to work with and half the time you can't really tell the difference unless you get up close. The fake tree my parents have now is awesome! It comes with the lights already on it, in 2 pieces... the top and the bottom and they limbs just fold out when being used and fold up to be put away. It's the best things since sliced bread! LOL, mom uses the old traditional fake tree (the one where you had to put it together branch by branch) now for other decorations. She's been using the branches for single arrangements to place around the house. LOL Seriously go with the fake and save yourself some trouble!

I like real trees. For me, the whole tradition has been to go out and pick a tree, then bring it home and decorate it. Real trees seem to make everything seem more warm and inviting. Real trees smell like Christmas. I think real trees are wonderful, though they are a hastle of cleaning up after and taking care of. If you want something nice without having to clean up a mess and take care of it, get a fake tree. but personally i prefer real ones because they are just so much more, real. if you get where im going with this.

Real, definitely. There's nothing like going out into the forest and looking and looking for the perfect tree. The feeling you get when you've found it. And then there's the smell of fresh pine tree in your house after you bring it in. We always had a fake tree when I was growing up, but since I've been married, we get a real tree every year.

Fake, but only because I'm allergic to the real trees! My parents had to buy a fake tree about 10 years ago because of my asthma. It actually looks really nice and has fooled a few people into thinking we had a real tree! Plus, it's much cleaner and easier to clean up and put away, and it's already paid for itself!

Fake tress don't give as much of a Christmas-y air, and they don't give off as nice of a scent. But, if you don't like the scent of real ones, then fake trees are the way to go. However, fake trees can look TOO fake, so you have to choose carefully.
Real trees cause more problems--the needles fall off and are pretty sharp, they are more of a hassle to put up and take out, and they are heavier. Fake trees are cheaper and easier, but like I said, that don't remind me of Christmas as much.

I love the way real trees smell but I hate to deal with the falling pine needles. There are some good fake trees on the market so I compromise: A real wreath on the door and a fake tree in the home.
This year I brough the darn wreath back from Northern Wisconsin and had to travel on a crowded plane with it. I was so tempted to ditch it somewhere between Minneapolis & Houston!!!!

Defiantly real! Half the fun is going to a Christmas tree farm and picking out the perfect tree for yourself. Everyone of them is unique. The place where I get mine gives all the trees different names. Yeah, there are some downfalls(needles falling off everywhere!) but you can't beat the smell of a fresh tree!

There are reasons for both. If you are allergic to pine trees (which many people are) then the artifical trees are the answer. Also, in the long run, artifical trees are less expensive since they last for many years, and you have to buy a real tree every year. Real trees bring the great pine smell and, if you have a fire place, make great firewood the next year (the trunk only, mind you). Also, they are more traditional.

I love Real trees, because they smell like Christmas and they just give me a better feel.. but after saying that We have a fake one in our attic, because the needles fall off and we vaccum every day.. it is a hassle to keep a rel one, and dispose of it later... but I do def PREFER a real one.. but a fake one is more convenient
