My father-in-law just passed about a month ago. In his collection of items my husband and I came across miniature "Autographed Collectors Plaque" Limited 1st Edition for the year 1977. All plaques are still in their original packaging from a company I think is no longer in business as I cannot locate on the web. How do I find out how much I can get for them?

they are worth what someone is willing to pay for them. to you now they are keepsakes of dad's collection, but to a collector they maybe worth next to nothing. you need to find out the history of the collectibles, and see if there is a buying market for them,
perhaps on e-bay or the like. and , by the way, since we don't know what you have, we can't even begin to tell you of what they are worth.

Adding to Phoenix's excellent and knowledgeable reply I too am in the BJD Hobby, My advice is don't ever go into buying one on the strength that it will 'increase in value' that way lies heartbreak. Buy the doll because you like the look of it/sculpt/theme/ but never ever because you want to resell it later. As Phoenix rightly said the BJD hobby is way way different from more or less every other hobby that has limited editions, just take a look at the marketplace on DoA and you'll see - new sculpts get all the attention in the MP - limited and full sets get bumped repeatedly for months and may not ever sell, certainly not for full price and more often than not at a loss - at best they get broken up and sold off as individual parts - the wig to one person, the outfit to another, the shoes to a third. The other thing I'd emphasise from Phoenix's post is the cost of customs. At that price you are going to be hit for them and hit hard. For a doll you are contemplating because she might make you money later that's not a good start. Also if you want to be selling at a profit later and that's a Big 'If' there you are going to have to keep her one hundred percent pristine which means that the whole concept of BJD - posing, photographing, meetups etc is out for you because your doll may yellow or be damaged.
