P(x) = (2x - 3)(x - 5)(x + 1)
cuts the x - axis when P(x) = 0
ie when (2x - 3)(x - 5)(x + 1) = 0
ie when x = -1, 3/2 and 5

it crosses the x-axis whenever the function is equal to zero. since the function is already factored, it's easy to find when the function is zero.

x= 3/2
x= 5
x= -1
