i think i can explain it,,i own a repair shop, and have installed a few of them before, first look at the kit you bought to do it with,,it should have came with some instructions ,and also on some of the gm carbs they will have a spot on the side of it to install the holding screw that is going to help hold the cable holder in place, but first you need to completely remove all the automatic choke parts from it,then look in the kit for the holder that will work with your carb, and install it,then find a place that you can run the cable through the firewall, and run it through there start from the inside of the truck, then go t the carb with it,,and on the end of it should hook in to the part of the carb that controls the choke flap, once you have this hooked on,,you can tighten the cable a little to see if it is going to open and close the choke enough,,from this point, all you have left is to mount the inside part down somewhere, and finish adjusting it,that's about it,,you should be done,at this point,,good luck,i hope this help,s.just take your time with it,,you can do it.

What style/cfm carb does it have, what intake, and distributor? you will get a competent Mallory dist. for greater or less $a hundred and twenty-$2 hundred, an edelbrock performer intake for greater or less $a hundred and twenty off of jegs, and then there are quite some thoughts in carburetors, i could propose a 750-850 cfm double pumper, edelbrock or holley. solid success! Oh, additionally, don't get too loopy with a cam in case you prefer to, stick to a point one because of the fact your springs and retainers wont take it, and it does not be quite.
