I'd just ask out of the blue in a nonchalant manner. That's romantic!

Something this important should be between the two of you. A nice dinner out, a quiet place somewhere, the question. Afterward, you can have the bells and whistles but right at that point, it should only be the two people involved.

Heck, it worked when my wife asked me to marry her. She didn't even mind when I said, "Oh, this is so sudden. May I have a week to give you my answer?" Thirty years later, I'm still saying "Yes!"

BTW, Otis has a great idea. The Driskell has always been one of my favorite places to go in Austin although I think Esther's Follies might be a better choice for after-dinner entertainment.

Personally I would rather someone proposed after a quiet romantic dinner and maybe a walk along the beach..being in a big crowd isnt very romantic to me. It would also depend on how close she is to her family, if she is close to family it might be a better plan to do it in front of them. Guess it just depends on the person your proposing to :) Good Luck!

Depends on the person you are proposing to. IF they like to be surprised and you are sure they will say yes. Public place is good. If you aren't too sure and don't want to be embarrassed yourself quietly at a dinner or on a wonderful walk would be good. Actually great in any situation.

I'd get a suite at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. We'd have champagne, a lovely dinner, a light desert. Then we walk along Town Lake and when the moonlight was shining on her, I'd ask her quietly if she wanted to be my woman forever. After that we'd go to our suite at the Driskill and work off those calories.

Definitely a quiet dinner or walk. I think it is much more romantic when it is just the two people.

Take her to dinner. Put a ring in her food. Have it written on a cake. Just do it the most romantic way you could think of.

IT WOULD BE NICE TO PROPOSE IN A QUIET DINNER IN A QUIET PLACE BUT IT ALL DEPENDS ON YOU. BUT IF YOU PREFERRED A HUGE PUBLIC CELEBRATION THEN DO IT. NOBODY CAN'T STOP YOU.BUT BE READY TO HER ANSWER TOO.

My husband proposed on Christmas. He wrapped, my ring in several boxs (a big box-->a smaller box-->an even smaller box--> a ring box). It was the last box that I opened and it was completely unexpected.

I'D PROBABLY PROPOSE IN A FUN ENVIRONMENT LIKE AN AMUSEMENT PARK ON A RIDE SUCH AS A FERRIS WHEEL OR THE MERRY-GO-ROUND.
