My daughter had the same problem. we saw her pediatrician and he said that some babies are sensitve to the amount of iron thay take in from their formula. We adjusted her formula to a type which didn't have any iron in it. It helped out a lot! Once your baby starts eating fruits and veggies this won't be such an issue. My daughter was sensitve to this at a young age and now even at 4 I have to make sure she has a lot of fruits and veggies in her diet or she gets constipated. Until your daughter is eating food that you can increase and decrease amounts to help her out I would talk to your pediatrician about it. GL! Isn't is so hard to see them uncomfortable? :)

My eight month old baby girl was constipated when she was born, very painful when she went and only went once in every few days and then she would have severe diahorrea which they said goes hand in hand with constipation, my health vistor told me to give her a sweeze of an orange in cooled boiled water as often as needed it did work but she recently got diahorea for 1 month and she has now been taken off all diary products and her stools are working better than ever, good luck hope this is helpful

I agree with a previous poster. Check with your pediatrician about her formula type. It may be too much iron. My children had the same problem, and we started using Good Start formula which helped a lot. Under WIC guidelines, we couldn't get that formula, so the pediatrician had us put a small amount of dark Karo syrup in the formula. It helped loosen stools, sometimes too much though. You had to ALWAYS be surprised for surprises. Good luck.

you can use Caro syrup, and I would use some Apple juice. and if you are having to use a special formula like prosobe then make sure she is getting plenty of liquid. I raised my daughter since she was 3 1/2 months and she is now 13. she had such hard stools at that age that you could actually see them moving through her skin. OUCH. but the apple juice and the caro syrup worked. Fluid, Fluid, Fluid.

I would give her 2 oz. of apple jucie and 2 oz. of water shake it up and give it to her in a bottle. this should help losen up her BM's it's not a automatic trick it may take about 24 hours. but you can give it to her a few times a day. If you still feel like she is having a real hard time you can switch to prune juice...but that may be over kill...so start with the apple and see how that works.

There could be so many reasons for constipation and just as many answers. The most likely reason is in the diet. Consult a pediatrician they are most likely going to switch the formula, or add fluids to the diet.

My ped told me I could give my son diluted apple juice. Ask your ped before doing anything though. I've also heard about a tea spoon of brown sugar in the bottles.
