Well, what i mean is...

For me (and some people i know), when i turned 18, i really wanted to be that "independent" who was capable of doing anything and didn't need anybody's help..

Now that I'm getting older, i realize that when i was 18, i didn't know ANYTHING...i'm 20 years old and i still feel like i don't know alot but i still crave for that independence and control...I heard it's not until 21 is when you really START to understand things...you don't get the gist of everything completely but it's the beginning of some clarifying

What do you think?

It depends on the repsonsibilities that you have to tke on. I moved out when I was 16, and so I had to pay my own bills, etc. I think that I was forced to be more mature and independent than I am. I got married at 21, and my mom told me that I was not old enough yet......

Independence is a state of mind. Be your own person, rely on no-one for NOTHING and you will be independent.

You can't learn much in 2 years. I am 53 and still learning things. I still don't have independence or control. I guess that is what happens when you get married you lose those. But, I am happily married and have been for 35 years. Good luck in your quest for independance and control, and when you find them let the rest of us know where you found them.

its when you move out of mom and dads house. I mean, I moved out when I was 18, it was no different from when I turned 21 because I still took on the same responsibilities.

It's when you move out of your folk's house and actually pay your bills and have a job and a career- this is when you are truly independant.
