I love my name and would never change it, even if I got married. It's a huge part of who I am.
However, one of my brothers legally changed his name, first and last, about three years ago. He studied some philosophy that claims that your name determines your personality and I guess he thought he had an unbalanced name. My parents and I were not happy about his decision, but he's an adult so what could we do? We came to accept it and we call him and refer to him by his new name. At first I still referred to him by his old name when talking about him to other people but eventually I started using his new name. We don't live in the same state and I've seen him only twice since he changed his name. The first visit, I did mess up and call him by his old name once, but I quickly corrected myself. The second visit I didn't mess up at all.
Someone else here mentioned it costs too much money to change your name. It's not as much as you might think. My brother lives in Florida and it cost him around $300 - court costs, drivers' license, Social Security, etc.

When I was a stupid teen, I wanted to change my name to Callico because it was hippy-ish. I also almost ended up with Ridley as my last name, but that was a long time ago (and one doesn't talk about past loves). I did add my husband's last name behind mine.

No i does no longer substitute it. i does no longer truly recommend human beings do this both. I advise till your spouse and youngsters abused you and also you want to distance your self on your human being sanity. i comprehend a woman who replaced her call and it purely causes confusion and raised eyebrows. She replaced her call to Arwen... yeah Arwen from the Lord of the earrings. So each and every time she introduces herself, human beings ask "Wow, your father and mother might want to were huge followers of the books?" and she or he has to say "err properly no" . Then human beings continually ask - so what's your 'authentic' call, making her sound like a fraud. otherwise she has to lie about it, it really is nearly cringeworthy. Make peace such as your names is what I say. Or no less than do not %. a especially unusual call from a in call for movie/e book... :)

I like my name, though I do wonder where it originated from. It is said to be a bastardization. It's modestly rare in the US, and gone or just about, in its country of origin, Scotland.
Also, I don't want to deny my family lineage. Even if it's shameful, I don't want to hide from it. It completes me.
