The sad truth is, we can't put off our responsibilities until the last moment and then ask a bunch of strangers to magically rescue us. You take credit for your successes, don't you? Slaves used in the Americas were used in gold mines by mainly Spanish conquistadors. At that time slaves were mainly natives, for they needed no transportation. However, revolts and death from the slaves from starvation and disease caused Spanish to use Africans. The Africans were immune to European diseases, had no friends in the Americas, and had experience farming- therefore being ideal for slavery. After the Spanish were later pushed out of the Americas slavery still existed, yet blacks could buy their freedom and own land.

Slavery started way before the united states try Italy & Africa. When people came over to escape they all becamew slaves over again and it did not matter what race you were.
