This quarter i have a noon class, so i can sleep in a little late. I set my alarm at 8 a.m. but when it goes off, i just get out of bed and turn it off - i end up waking up at 10:00. I put the alarm clock to the highest volume just so it can really get me up. Lately, i've been very sleepy...I think maybe that my mono has been reactivated ( i had it 2 years ago) or maybe i'm just lazy. I get the right amount of hours in (about 7) but it's still hard for me to get up - I end up being sleepy the whole day...

Are there any alternatives?
HELP!

I had the same problem! My solution was drinking lots of water before going to bed. Whenever my alarm clocks rings, I then realize I must go to the bathroom so I leave and after walking, you just force yourself to stay up. it's weird but it works! Also you can try setting your alarm clock two hours EARLIER every day. or just find somethingto excite you for the day. i mean it seems like you r just living day to day in this blah-routinic manner. Spice it up and excite yourself for the day. everyday gone is a day you can never get back. good luck :-)

Is your room completely dark when you sleep. A lot of people don't realize even a small nightlight can interfere with sleep cycles. Even if you don't wake up all the way it can make you feel like you are not getting enough sleep. Also keep an eye on your health. Are you drinking a lot more liquids than normal, going to the bathroom more? These along with being over-tired are signs of diabetes. When is the last time you had a check-up? Do you have a family history of diabetes? Are you overweight?

This may seem a bit extreme, but when I was having trouble getting up for classes in college, this system did wonders for me.

Set two alarm clocks. Put the first one near your bed, so that you can just slap off. Then, place the second one somewhere it will still be loud enough to bother you, but far enough out of bed that you will have to get up and then do something difficult to shut it off. (in college, I slept in a loft, so I had the first alarn in the loft with me, and the second one across the room, where I had to get down out of the loft to shut it off.) That way, by the time I had the second one off, I knew I really meant to be awake (though sometimes I didn't want to be awake.) I think this system can be applied even if you don't sleep in a loft, as long as you put your second alarm somewhere it is hard enough to get to that you wake up enough to believe you really would rather get up and face the day than go back to bed.

Try not to stay up too late. Don't drink anything with caffeine late afternoons & evenings. Warm milk or camomile tea helps with getting you to sleep. Try to go to bed the same time every night and get up the same time every morning except weekends if you want to sleepin. Don't eat a heavy meal close to bedtime.

I have a hard time getting up too. I enjoy staying up late so I end up paying the price the next morning. But because I have to work I cannot be late. I do take cat naps while I'm on the transit.

If this is something that just started maybe you are trying to catch a bug. Now, I know when I was in college I was so stressed and I couldnt DRAG myself to class on time. Maybe you need to try to set the clock earlier and if you can try having a friend or relative call you and bug the mess out of you. This is what I did and after 20 calls from my best friend and mom I got my butt up. A little aggravated but on time for class

If you fall asleep easily, be aware of what you are eating throughout the day, an unhealthy diet affects everything about your lifestyle. If you have troubles falling asleep, don't drink anything with caffeine after 6 or 7. Also, try sleeping in a different position, or rearrange your room often so that you initially wake up thinking you are somewhere else, which often wakes anyone fully.

Have someone call you at the time you have to wake up and to stay on the phone with you until you are done. There is coffee, energy drinks such as red bull and so forth. Eat a hearty breakfast in the morn and drink lots of water.

Our sleeping is rated by REM (Rapid Eye Movement). this is how we know the different stages of sleep...the cycle of REM is approxiamtely 90 min...... so that is why sometimes when you wake up in the morning you still feel tired bacuase you have not complted the cycle of your REM...... so try to set your alarm in this clock pace 3 hours, 4.5 hours, 6 hours, 7.5 hours and so on...... try.....
Sometimes it is already a habit of not getting up of the bed after sleeping... just tired and have no drive to stand up!!!!

good luck!!!

If you're getting enough to eat and drink and exercising and getting enough sleep, it's time to see your doctor. Fatigue is the first symptom of any number of illnesses, and it's better to be safe than sorry.
