Edit: intel_knight, those values are the ones that don't work. 41+1 = 42 = 2*3*7, and 2+3+7 = 12 ≠ 11. Similarly, 43+1 = 44 = 2*2*11, and 2+2+11 = 15 ≠ 11.

47 plus 1 equals 48
prime factors work this way
2 x 24 = 48
2 x 2x12 =48
2 x 2 x 2 x 6 = 48
2 x 2 x 2 x2 x3 =48
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 11

the prime numbers between 40 and 50 are 41, 43, and 47
41+1=42....prime factors are 2,3, and 7....they add up to 12......so 41 is not an answer!
43+1=44....prime factors are 2,2, and 11...they add up to 15......so 43 is not and answer.
47+1=48....prime factors are 2,2,2,2, and 3...they add up to 11.....so 47 is the answer.
