change the 4 to 4/1.

4/1*-3/2= -12/6 and then you simplify

final answer is -6.

yes you can change -3/2 to -1.5 but you will find it easier in the long run to make the whole number (4) into a fraction. not all equations will be this simple and you won't be able to figure out what the next fraction is in your head.

First you do all the operations inside of the parentheses.

(4) is already OK. And (-3/2 = -1 1/2).
So we have (4)(-1 1/2) after we do the operations inside the parentheses.

Two parentheses next to each other mean you multiply them so
1 1/2 times 4 = 6.

BUT you have to put in the negative sign when you multiply a negative and a positive number, so the answer is -6.

If BOTH the 4 and the 1 1/2 were negative (-4) (-1 1/2) you would have a POSITIVE number.

4 x -3/2
= -12/2
= -6

If it's 4 + -3/2, it's a different way of doing.
4 + -3/2
=8/2 - 3/2
=5/2

Therefore the answer for the question you asked is -6. A tips for you. Trying doing it one step by a time. Don't rush. Slow and steady is the best~!! Well, sometimes~

any number multiplied by a negative number is also negative. This is also the same as saying 4/1 x (-3/2).

Multiply to top numbers and then multiply the bottom numbers.
4x (-3)/ 1x (-2) = -12/-2 = -6

You could view it this way if you want to:
Split (4)(-3/2)
into (4)(-3)(1/2)
...
then (4)(-3) is (-12)
...
multiply (-12) by (1/2)
and you will get (-6) as your answer.

4 x -3 divided by 2 : 4 x -3 = -12/2 = - 6

or think of 3/2 as 1.5. 4*-1.5= -6

(4)(-3/2)= -6

because, 4 x -3/2 = 2 x -3 ................(as 4/2 = 2)
