I am only buying for my neice. Her I know what to get. I am getting ready for the barrage of requests of what the children want for christmas. I will be hearing from them for a full day. Also I do a lot of research on my own. Not a new role for me.

These are not my children and I have no intention of having 500 children into my home. It makes for a very long day. Think of an event at a major sporting arena. Now place the families on a football field at different times through an 8 hour day. Never have received a bad child.

ps I am the one who will be suggesting a possible alternative to the unatainable toy for the child who doesn't know what they want for Christmas or has forgotten. I hope to save a few parent's christmas grief.

Usually kids that age will tell you (and everyone else) exactly what they want. If you don't know ask a parent or someone who spends time with the child, or if the child is really young you can ask them yourself, and it will still be OK. Then just use your discretion and make sure what they want is appropriate, in your price range, etc.

Books!!! Not just any old book, but a certificate signed by you stating that you will arrange special time (maybe lunch or even dinner out) to take them to get 2 or 3 books of their choice. "Helping" them pick out books gives them the message that you think reading is important, it encourages them to read and it gives them what they really want, time with you. If your child id dealing with a particular problem, going to the dentist, starting a new school, not having friends, etc., there is a book written about just that topic and how someone got through it. It's good all around. Happy shopping!

My daughter age 5 and her friend age 6 are into the "dress up" and "makeup" thing. My son age 9 is into science experiments & trucks. I like to get them each a toy a book and an outfit each year.

If you want to support your child learn to learn effectively, not with TV and videos, computer programs and applications, as well as the institution program is the clear answer, the program, Children Learning Reading, from here https://tr.im/CRHnb is.
For a kid to successfully understand and grasp studying skills they require regular attention from one or both parents. With this at heart, nevertheless, the instructions are held short from 5 to quarter-hour a day.
With Children Learning Reading system you may also construct and enhance your connection with your child not just how to see effectively.

They have pogo sticks at toys r us for $20 each. My son is 8 and I got him a national geographic solar system that lights up on his wall so that he can look at the different constellations, I would also suggest a talking piggy bank so they can learn money and saving it...my daughter loved hers.

depends on what they are into... I have a 9 yo and he is really into how things work. I get them science experiments like mineral growing, and sets to learn how motors work and really hands on things. I dont believe in video games and junk like that....unless it is working coordination and focus in his mind for positive things....like building a track to make a car race on it or a train. That is an idea. Prices...any range - depends on where you pruchase and availability - depends on what you're after. GOOD LUCK!
