He is calling out set signals to his players. It also lets the WR/RBs know if he is changing the play and/or when the ball should be snapped.

speaking from experience. You usually will call out "BLUE" if you are talking about anything on the left side of the line and "RED" if you talking about anything on the right" such as audibles depending on your read as to the blitz package your seeing. You can also use red and blue and sometimes brown to change plays. for instance; if your changing your play you can say BLUE 32 which is the halfback is player 3 and the fullback is 2 and quarterback 1, so your telling the halfback to watch the 2 hole "the hole to the left of center" for a blitzing linebacker" and he needs to block for you. Alot of it is garbage meant to alter your cadence and keep the defense off guard. You can also assign colors to differnt formations at the line or your plays. BLUE can be a Proset and Red can be a I set and brown can be a Strong I. He could also be altering the play at the line as well, like changing the HB route to a block and release or if he sees a blitz to tell his recievers which one is his "hot reciever" meaning when the blitz comes thats who hes throwing to. As far as your snap count you usually have two numbers that are garbage for instance "RED 224" red just means "SET" and two of the numbers mean nothing. but the offense knows which one is the snap count so 4 could be the snap or 2 could be

because its a code that the defense wont know........its all audibles and changing routes and last minute changes when the quarterback sees how the defense is in

also lets say a qb says blue 40 blue 40 twice like that then thats the snap count.......like on 2.......there not gonna say 1...2....go...

I'm guessing there is one play clue in all that prattle that the team knows to look for (like the third number or something) and the rest is all excess to 'confuse the enemy' - so to speak.

Sometimes it's for audibles or just to confuse the defense. Also it gives the offense some rhythm.
