For an avid reader that's almost impossible to say as the answer to that changes every week. Usually it's whatever book I've just finished reading ... so right this minute, my favourite book is "Justin Thyme".

I actually bought the book for my kids, but after reading a couple of chapters to them at bedtimes, I swiped the book for myself and read it right through the night.

It's set in a Scottish castle on the banks of Loch Ness owned by the family of a teenage billionaire. There are fascinating pages about the paradoxes of time between each chapter which really get you thinking - and it's full of all manner of cryptic clues hidden in the text. Even though I finished it almost a week ago, I can't resist sneaking it out of my kids' room at night and trying to find just one more hidden clue.

Perhaps I'm going through my second childhood ... but I have to confess that I've read all the Harry Potter books, Dark Materials trilogy and even the Series of Unfortunate Events! Kids' books are getting way more sophisticated these days ... and their plots are often more engaging than many books written for adults.

I don't have a totally favorite book....I have a list of "favorite right now" books and "keep forever" books...

On the "keep forever" list I have Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Mists of Avalon, the Pendragon series, The Expected One, anything by Steve Barry, The Outlander series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, The Wizard series....the list goes on, much to my limited book shelf's dismay! Alot of these books I have read because of my children....there are alot of great books in the "kid" and "young adult" sections at Borders and Barns& Nobles! Everyone should look around that section once in a while!

One of my Orwell favorite books is his "Burmese Days", as for the reasons I like it because he wrote it with his great narratives, readable, understandable characters, and more importantly, he wrote his 'message' to inform the whole world on the then British Imperialism in which he served as a policeman in Burma for 5 years (thus the novel's based on his experience there), in brief, he revealed the unfairness or exploitation of the local people there and he proposed something for an ideal community with respect and equality among human beings. So far, it doesn't matter what color, race, religion we have, belong to and revere, we all are fellow people of the mother Earth.

Any of the books from the Harry Potter series. They are quite possibly the best books I have ever read. They're non-stop from beginning to the latest and always keep me wanting more.

I also love ANYTHING by Jane Green. She writes great chick lit.

The Great Gatsby- I know it's sort of a cliche, and everyone picks it, but every time I read it I find something new. The language is just perfect.
Also, Evelyn Waugh's Sword of Honor trilogy. Amazing, Amazing writing. Again, each time read them, I find something new- metaphors, references, or themes I missed before. Wonderful books about disillusionment and WWII.

"Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card

He is a magnificent writer, and this is one of those books that anyone can relate to and love whether they hate reading, hate sci-fi, or have trouble getting through a book. Way back in fourth grade I was asked to read this as an outside project by a teacher of mine who wanted me to explain it to her. I not only fell in love with it, but all his other books as well.

I also recently have fallen in love with Anne Rice's "Lives of the Mayfair Witches" trilogy. Its a highly detailed and remarkable series that has just gripped me and kept me highly immersed through all three books.
