I am 14 years old looking for a job(legal-age in MICHIGAN). I'm thinking about workingin a clothing store. Thinking about Macy's, Hollister, Express, A&F, Neiman Marcus, or Saks. Which would be best suitable? What do I need to be like in an interview? What should I expect?

Most retail jobs hire at age 16 and up, especially luxury stores like Neimans/Saks and even Macys. I work at Sunglass Hut and I know that you have to be 18 to work there.

I am the same age and I have already had a few interviews. My last one was for Pacsun (I live in California), and it went well. Just be honest. Tell them you are a diligent worker and are looking for some experience and a chance to learn. As long as you are friendly, they should be happy to consider you!

Also, it is true most businesses are looking for people at least 16 years of age and older, believe me I know. Usually it is because there are less restrictions on older children and because 16 year olds can drive themselves to work. Just keep on trying!!

Ok it is going to be very hard at your age, most want at least 16 years old.

You will need to be very excited in the interview. You need to show that you want to learn. If you can try and do some volunteer work to build experience.
Pratice interviews with your parents, have them ask you some of the hard questions.

Apply to all of them. Applying to all of these companies increase your chance of landing employment. I think you should approach them on a professional level. Display confidence, maturity, professionalism. Prepare yourself to answer questions about future goals, adaptability in a structured working environment, etc... Good luck on your future endeavors.
