Seriously...I would give up television and radio and start reading books on things like Sufism. Especially anything at all by Idries Shah...like learning how to learn...knowing how to know...things like that...His books while not instruction in Sufism, do give the reader a basic course in STRAIGHT THINKING...something almost no one is capable in America today..
Also...religion is debilitating..even if you think you are intelligent now, you can increase your capacities vastly by giving up religious and 'magical' thinking...it opens up your capacities...It's is all about capacity...IQ is short for...Intelligence QUOTIENT...think about this... think think THINK.....

The IQ is apparently a very stable quantity through life, but it doesn't matter a hill of beans if you don't use it for anything.

Good responses here encouraging the use of what you have to get closer to your max potential.

Higher IQ lets people figure some things out a little faster, but really, everyone else soon figures whatever out too & it's not such a big deal - you even have to take tests to determine what the IQ is most of the time; is it really that important in everyday life?

Think about it!

It's called the "rubberband" model of intelligence. We are each born with different sizes of rubberbands of potential intelligence. What our lives teach us then stretches our rubberbands. So, someone could be born with a big rubberband and not stretch it very far. Someone else can be born with a much smaller rubberband and stretch it mightily and achieve great intelligence. As long as we are alive, we learn. As long as we learn, our intelligence grows. That is why older people are encouraged to keep learning, to do crossword puzzles, learn a new language, etc. The best way to increase one's intelligence is to learn math and a new language. Those activities actually build measurable, new significant physical paths in our brains of "intelligence", so to say. Think Math.

IQ tests are supposed to measure your capacity to learn and live a productive life. It's not about how much knowledge you have.

I think your IQ score may be able to be changed by studying, but your IQ itself wouldn't go up much, if it goes up at all.

Basically, it sifts through all other factors (age, experience, studying, etc.) and measures ONLY your intelligence at its simplest level.

My IQ points in High School are within a few points of where I score now! Go figure! I thought I got smarter with age!

Apparently, no! We remain about the same throughout life!
