HI.
I had my tubes tied at the age of 28. I had 2 kids and a horrible first marriage. i knew financially i couldnt handle any more kids. Little did i know i was in a depression. I was alone, a single parent living off the government so i could get a college degree. i was going to school full time and working 2 jobs. it was tough but i just wanted a better life and i knew emotionally i couldnt handle another pregnancy. i was also being pressured by my mother. so i had my tubes tied. i didnt know at the time of surgery that i had a latex allergy . i had a very rough recovery. my whole body was infected because of the latex. anyway, i recovered and continued my life. i got my degree, a good job, etc etc.i never thought i would find my soulmate. but i did, only 3 yrs after my surgery. he has no kids. we were married on valetines day 2003. he knew i couldnt have children and accepted that. but as time went by we both yearned for a child. we got a loan and i had my tubes untied in january of this year. we were pregnant 2 weeks later and had our son 5 weeks ago. the Lord works in mysterious ways. please talk with a counselor to make sure this is really what you want to do . if so, make sure you dont have a latex allergy. you will recover within 1 week. i also would like to tell you that many women have what is called Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome (PTLS).. please read into that. its awful...
Best of Luck to you ..

I'm a surgical tech in the OR and I've also had my tubes tied. The recovery time will depend on the method used. Laparoscopically is a much faster healing time. If done that way you will be completely put out. If done after a c-section you can either be awake or asleep. I was asleep during my c-section because they had to completely put out since my epidural wore off and it was an emergency section. It doesn't hurt they just use free ties and tie them around the tubes to close them off. It is very easy. Procedure time will vary because everyone is different. It is not that bad. I see a lot of people trying to talk you out of it. Do what you want it is your life and you will be the one responsible for your children not a bunch of people on a question and answer board. I had it done because my last two pregnancies were horrible and so was my last delivery. My doctor agreed that I probably shouldn't put myself through that anymore. Your question was about the procedure not about whether you should do it or not so don't pay any attention to that nonsense. Good luck.

Okay i may be out of line, but you are 26 are you sure you don't want more kids ever? I mean tubes tied is pretty permanent... Have you discussed the IUD with your doctor? (interuterine device) it is not a pill and only women who have had children can use it its put in your uterus so babys can not grow in there, then if you decide you want to have another baby the OBGYN takes it out for you.... They have 6 year and ten year T's I went through this when i had my second kid at 20 my first at 19... The IUD has been excellent and i still have the options to have children.. go over all your options and ask about the IUD.... really, that way in five or six years if you decide to have a child you can... please go through all options..

a girl will come to get you and take you to the operating room. a whole team of doctors and nurses will be talking to you through the entire process to the point where you don't really pay attention to what is going on. it doesn't hurt, but it does feel kind of strange for a while. it's nothing to worry about. the entire procedure takes 15 minutes. you will be healed before the six week time period you have off before going back to work. i congratulate you on your decision. i also had my tubes tied after having three children.

I can't answer your specific question because it depends on whether you have any specific health issues. I am a lifelong type 1 diabetic and it took me just a few days and that was 14 years ago. Yes they put me to sleep and yes my stomach was a little sore, but not much. Having them hurt much worse believe me!!! I don't have any scars. I hope the best for you. I would be nervous also but with help from above, you will pull through just great.

I got mine done with my cesarean. The amount of time for recovery will depend on the method used to do the surgery. There may be some pain involved, but you should be prescribed pain meds. I was awake for mine, so I don't know if you would be put under or not. Just make sure this is what you want to do. It is very costly to have reversed. Good luck!

if it is a laparoscopic procedure you will be put fully to sleep. if it is done immediately following the birth of a child, you will be awake. I assume yours is laparoscopic. it only takes a few days to recover. It does not hurt much, they will give you pain pills. I am guessing you are only 26 years old, please, please, please be sure this is what you want. lots of women do this, end up getting divorced, wanting another baby with the new husband but got their tubes tied so they are SOL. I see it all the time. If you are not certain, get a mirena iud

I had mine done right through the bellybutton after my third childbirth. Depending on your pain tolerance it shouldn't be any more painful than childbirth as was my case. You should be just fine, besides if you can give birth I am sure you can tolerate the relatively minor procedure these days. It was the best thing for me relieved allot of pressure felt with considering and using certain types of birth control. Good Luck
