They are usually old. Some mobile home furnaces do use this. I have seen them in older colemans.

It is different from a piezo-electric starter, or a hot surface igniter.

The reason they are old, is that most manufacturers have gotten away from a pilot light due to the energy consumption and carbon monoxide generation. The CO generation is especially noticeable in propane or butane heaters.

They are still available through some mobile home supply houses and through companies specializing in off-grid applications where electricity consumption is a bigger issue than gas, propane, butane, kerosene, coal oil or diesel furnaces.

Coleman is the only name I can think of.

Yes they are called micro volt units. Generally the micro voltage created only triggers a relay that provides higher voltage to the burner valve and your thermostat.
White Rodgers is the main brand name to look for.
Truth is thought, they are $$$$$$ and be certain of what part you need B4 purchasing as electronic furnace parts are non-returnable.
You may want to call a qualified tech on that one because either way you'll need to break out the wallet if it needs parts.

First, it is NOT a "pizeo ignition". That is a different item. A crystal used to generate a spark to light a gas burner. (Found on barbecues, and some newer stoves so that they don't NEED a pilot light.)

Yes.
They use different "names" for the unit, but it is a "thermocouple" type "microvolt generator". It DOES require a matching thermostat due to the very low power it produces.
There are several different brands, and not all are handled nationwide.

I suggest you contact a heating contractor in your area to find out what brands are sold in your area.

Yes, it is called piezo ignition. Many new furnaces have this feature. Just search for gas furnaces with piezo ignition.
