Different members of congress are always talking about making burning the american flag a crime but I don't hear anyone saying that burning a cross should be illegal....

When exactly have liberals been burning the flag in say the last two decades? They haven't. Personally, I don't care if you light one with the other. They are symbols nothing more and nothing less.

Burning a cross IS illegal under various hate crime laws.
The intent is different. Burning a cross is a scare tactic used to keep black people & their supporters in their place. The cross symbolizes the righteousness of their cause in the eye of God, & the fire of God's anger.
Burning the flag is done as disrespect of the US at large or it's government's actions. There is no threat implied in the act. So far, the act of burning the flag is protected by the Constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court.

At first I thought you were talking about a certain set of 4 Supreme Court Justices, ....
The act of burning a cross is not illegal, because the Supreme Court unanimously said that doing so is a constitutional right. And burning a flag is also not illegal because 5 out of the 9 Supreme Court Justices said that doing so is a constitutional right.
Now don't ask me to explain the difference, because I don't know.

Well we do have freedom to do those things, even if they are insane. The KKK and neo nazi groups are fracking crazy, but as long as they don't actually get violent nobody can touch them while they protest. Unfortunately a lot of the time it's our stupid, dirt kissing college hippie anti-racist protesters who start the violence during the KKK's marches and parades that gets the KKK police protection and make the rest of us look stupid. Just a heads up to people who say that the US looks backwards from the outside? We all do things differently, you don't have to accept us or cheer for us, we have enough of those crazies. You know, you guys look backwards from in here, so keep throwing stones you may just hit yourself one of these days.
