NO. Vegas is all corporations now. Mainly 3 or 4, in fact. The closest thing to the Mafia in Vegas would be the MORMONS. They run everything in a way similar to the Mafia, just like they do in any city they take over.
But the "Mafia" isn't a big part of anything except in parts of NY and NJ, and even here (NJ) they're not so "big".

I think the people who say there's still a meaningfull Mafia pressence in Las Vegas must live in Omaha and watch too much television and movies. The Mafia was driven out in the early 80's, and now the town is run by corporations and old Nevada families like the Boyds and the Gaughns. While I would suspect that the children and grandchildren of Mafia members have Nevada Casino stocks in their portfolios, there's no organized crime in Las Vegas.

If there were such a thing as a mafia, it might have a little influence in this city - the mayor is a former lawyer for those type of businessmen. But, mostly, it's all big corporations.

No, but there are still a lot of former MAFIA members who live in Las Vegas. The mayor of Las Vegas is a former MAFIA member.
