Which job has a better job outlook in the future: a computer network engineer (CCNA/CCNP/MCSE) or a video game programmer?

While less exciting, the computer network engineer likely has a better outlook as far as jobs go. As networks become more and more pervasive in the workplace, engineers become increasingly necessary. Video game programming is a great field but, also a very difficult one to break in to. And unless your skills are really above-par, it's difficult to make decent, consistent money.

Well, a computer network engineer has a wider job outlook, but if you are willing to program something other than video games, you will have a lot of job opportunities.

It is easy to get a software engineer job. The video game companies might have enough programmers at their company, but still other companies might want one. Companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Google always want software engineers

Hmm, Chasing that "type A lifestyle" eh?

There are more Network Engineers and they work under "slightly" less pressure.

Programming is a whole different animal, and the deadlines are tight and you don't get to set them. I would try some programming before you commit
