It's easy. It will take a couple of hours if this is the first time you are defragmenting. Subsequent defrags will take less and less. Geeks advise us to run a Checkdisk, Disk Cleanup, and a Defrag about every two weeks. They are all in Start, Settings, Control Panel, Accessories, System Tools -- or
With Windows XP:
Open My computer
right-click on C:
click Properties
click Tools
first, click on the "check now" button. Let the program check your hard drive for errors.
When it is finished, repeat the above steps and this time click "defrag now."
You might want to consider getting a book or two on WinXP. Try www.amazon.com. On the left side is a link for books, then search for used books. I've gotten many used books here and all so far have been in "like new" condition.

I hate defragmenting. It takes forever. I like to defragment a couple of times. The time it takes to defragment after the first time decreases. Just make sure you do it every once in a while (i do it every other week) so it wont take five hours.
