Psychiatry is offered in medical schools only. You will need to go to college first before you get to take psychiatric classes.

In your 4-year university, you will probably need to take a lot of biology and biological related classes, psychology, psychobiology, chemistry and chemistry related classes, physics, a lot of math and other liberal arts classes and you have to do really well in all of your classes.

You have to make sure you meet the requirements for medical school cuz medical school is the only place to get a degree in psychiatry.

here is a list of good universities for med school preparation:

NYU
UCLA
UCSD
John Hopkins University
University of Penn
UCSF
Stanford University
Duke University
UC Berkeley
Harvard

all the schools i've just listed are top medical schools also.

You have to go to med school to become a psychiatrist, so you should first find a good four year college and study psychology, then work on med school - there are many of those to choose from.

-There's a website I used my senior year of High School during the big college search. Not only did it help me search through specific school information (such as costs and available degrees), helping me find which one was right for me, but in the meantime it lets you apply for numerous student loans, scholarships, and aid funds. I highly recomment it to anyone in the college decision process.
