Try using a bit of root-tone each time you water it.
It will encourage the the tree to absorb more water.
Asprin is for headaches.
You can find it at about any home & garden center or nursury.

I agree with "MM" on the recommendation about using 7-Up/Sprite. You should also use a drop of chlorine to help prevent any scum from forming in the water well. Make sure you check the water level every day so the cut end of the tree doesn't dry out.

IF you want to keep your Christmas tree as fresh as possible, I'd recommend purchasing a product called "Cloud Cover". Cloud Cover is an anti-transpirant that cuts down the moisture loss from the needles/tree.

You can find Cloud Cover at Home Depot or some of the other hardware stores in the garden department. The mixing rate is; 1 part Cloud Cover to 10 parts Water. After mixing you just need to spray this solution to your tree-- making sure you get thorough coverage. Use it also on your wreaths and any plants that are susceptible to frost damage. (It also helps protect frost-sensitive plants/vegetables)

By using the soda + water + chlorine in the water well and by spraying Cloud Cover on your tree, you'll have a much fresher tree throughout the Holiday season!

Hope this information was helpful for you. GOOD LUCK!!

We get ours the weekend after Thanksgiving. that's no longer truly about once you get it yet truly the way you're taking care of it. even as finding out to purchase your Christmas tree be sensible to envision to work out that the tree is sparkling. to envision for freshness stroke the needles or strike the stump of the tree on the floor. A sparkling tree’s needles gained't fall off. If the needles drop off once you're checking, it really is a sensible signal the tree isn't sparkling. once you carry your tree abode, talked about off about an inch of the bottom of the trunk. shrink instantly throughout the time of, no longer at an attitude and at contemporary immerse the tree in a stand it truly is full of a minimum of a gallon of water. examine the water element each day and save the stand finished of water. A Christmas tree can take up a gallon or extra of water in line with day reckoning on the size of the tree. Don’t ever enable the point of the water contained in the sphere drop lower than the tree’s shrink floor. if you're actually unlikely to beautify the tree instantly, go away it outdoors or in an unheated position like the storage-IN WATER-to advance the life. timber interior favor a funky temperature.

When you buy your tree, have them cut a couple of inches off the bottom. This opens up the seal that forms when trees are cut and stored. If you's having it cut at a tree farm, of course, this is unnesessary. Make sure you have a large enough tree stand for the size of your tree - don't skimp! When placing the tree in the stand, don't let it hit the bottom of the container, secure it with the screws so that it's a couple inches from touching the bottom. Adding asprin is silly unless you tree has a headache. You can buy stuff to make it last longer, it's the same product that they sell with cut flowers to extend their lives.

Keep your tree as far away from heat sources like radiators, gas heat ducts, etc. as possible, they'll dry it out faster. Add cold water at least once a day. Smell you tree for me - please, there's nothing like it! Hope you enjoy, and hope I've helped. Happy Holidays.

The way my family does it is:
We cut the trunk up maybe an inch from the bottom and take off a few of the bottom branches and stick it in water... then we make sure it has adequate water until after Christmas.

Perhaps drilling a small hole in the base going up vertically may help or even fertilizer...?

Besides water add seven-up or sprite. For every two cups of water add one cup of seven-up or sprite. This also works on roses.
