Any thoughts?

Forgot to add the rest of the details.

I was having a discussion about this with my father, I was asking him why my puppy won't learn to sit and he told me that it's because she has me too well trained. She knows how to get me to do things for her. example: she cries and stares up at me when I enter a room she's been in or come home from work because she knows it will get me to pick her up. Other little things like that.

We train pets but they must be willing. Pets train us to meet their needs.

ha that's is a good question. and i believe it is a little of both depending on the animals. my cat will never be trainer but she will pretend to like u for the whole 2 seconds u are trying to figure out that she is hungry ;)
....... actually now that i think of it all my pets have trained me so well, hahaha, i mean truly every time i ask my dog to perform in front of people she will only do it when she gets treats. wow doesn't this open my eyes....

I think it goes both ways but would say the life lessons I've gained through the relationships I've had with my 4 legged friends have been the greatest gift of all.

Good question. I would like to think that my babies are trained by me, but in all reality, I think that I am the one who is trained.

If you know what you are doing and have established yourself as the "leader of the pack" then you train them, if not then it is quite the opposite.

Well my pets trained me how to train them....some are very food motivated and others prefer lavish attention...They are kind of like kids...each one has its own personality and motivations.

there is no question it is a little of both, but mostly they train us to think we have trained them. it is all a mind game, and they are winning.
