I read it a long time ago...but I remember there was more of an African "Cycle of Life" theme to the Story than there is a Judeo / Christian Theme. It was a good story all together.

I listened to it again last week. There actually is a religious theme. It's present in all the stories that are told about Prince Rainbow and El-a- ree-a rah. At the end I believe that Hazel-rah is taken away by El a ree a rah when he dies. You should read it, it's a wonderful, exciting, touching book.
