^^^^^The 360 cannot play HD-DVD's unless you buy the HD-DVD player for another $200.
I own a 360 and will be getting a PS3 after X-mas so it would depend on your personal taste of which one to get. Their are slight differences between them but nothing drastic.
I would recommend going to a store and playing in store demos to get a feel for both of them. If you had a PS2 I would go with the PS3 and if you had the xbox I would go with the 360.

i like the ps3 but i prefer the 360 ,they both match in graphics but the 360 has better games ,its cheaper,you can save $200 the online play is better ,it may not play blu-ray but it does play hd-dvd's. i dont own a 360 but im sure getting one .dude for $600 you can get a 360 , a wii and games . 360 does the same things as a ps3 exept for the blu-ray part.but blu-rays r not going to be popular until like 5 years right now its all about hd-dvd's. and if you decide to get a 360 then you got to get halo 3 or gears of war
all you sony fanboys that r reading this yeah i said it 360 is better than ps3 .ps3 is nothing but over priced priced piece of crap that has many problems . it cant even play blu-ray dics as good as an original blu-ray player.
ps im not a fanboy those r just facts

that dumass before me doesnt know what hes talking about, maybe the japanese models do but not the new ones, PS 3 is way better, I admit the Xbox360 has more power, but commercially the PS 3 has a lot lot more games , X box 360 for some reason only has a few plus the PS 3 comes with a large hard drive for downloading stuff off the internet

PS3 has better graphics and stuff and it does NOT overheat.
