3(4x+6)+7
expand first (ie multiply what is in the bracket by what is out side the bracket)
= (3 times 4x + 3 times 6) +7
=12 x + 18 + 7
then collect like terms (i.e. similar powers of x)
= 12x +25

The first thing you want to do according to PEMDAS (Parenthesis, exponets, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) is parenthesis, there is nothing you can do there so then move on to exponets, where there are none, then using the distributive property of multiplication, 3*4x=12x and 3*6=18 so 12x+18+7. 7+18 is 25. Then put it together. The x can't be added or subtracted because there are no other x's. Therefore the answer is 12x+25. The answer could be simplified more if it was 12x+24 because a 12 can be factored, because they have a 12 in common. If that was the case, the answer would be 12(x+2)

Just multiply 3 * 4x and 3 * 6 because first you have to eliminate the parathenses to order to move on. Now you will have 12x +18 +7. Now collect like terms and the answer will be 12x + 25.

for your order of operations, you have to do multiplication and division first, so the first step is the value in the parentheses.
- use distribution on 3(4x + 6), you have to multiply the 3, times each number inside the parenths- that makes it 12x + 18, so you have 12x + 18 + 7
- then you can just add the 18 + 7
- answer is 12x + 25

You first do 3 (4x)=12x then do 3(6) = 18 after that add 7 to 18 that equals 25 and then you leave 12x as is because there are no other terms to add it with!
12x+25

what you have to do is: Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally:
Parentheses Exponents Multiplication Division Addition Subtraction
(left to right)
Order of Operations ---> so what happens is:
you look for what you can do;
the parentheses cannot be simplified
there are no exponents
however, there is a multiplication you can do; you use the Distributive property with the 3(4x+6) part and get 12x + 18
now the problem look like this
12x + 18 +7
so all you have to do now is combine terms
12x + 25
that's the answer!! ^_^

One way of thinking about it is that the number outside the paranthesis tells you how many times the expression inside the paranthesis needs to be written. Therefore 3(4x+6) is technically:
4x+6
4x+6
4x+6
you add all the 4x's and the 6s and you get
12x+18
Finally add the 7 and you have 12x+25

well You fist have to distirbute the 3 to the 4x and the 6 meaning you multiply 3 to 4x and to 6
12x + 18 +7

you take the 3 and multiply it by 4x and get 12x and then multiply 3 by 6 and get 18. so then you have 12x+18+7. then add 18 and 7 and you get 25. so the answer is 12x+25.

3 ( 4 x + 6 ) + 7
first do distibutive property, so you multiply everything in the parenthesis by 3
12 x + 18 + 7
now combine like terms, same variable and same exponent.
12 x + 25
now there is the answer, hope that helped you.
