So... I'm having difficulty trying to figure out the following:
1. Water Breaking vs. Peeing
2. Light Green Discharge looks likes cottage cheese (eww, i know... but if you've had this - what is it?)
3. Contractions

I'm week 38! Yay! Can't wait to see my little man... but I've been wondering...

1. I wake up all the time and have to pee or if I accidentally let some out... when I go to use the bathroom - I can't? Is this water breaking / leaking out or whats going on...

2. I have a light green discharge that has been around off and on kind of for about a week now. It doesn't smell. It looks like cottage cheese kind of, just trying to figure out what this is since my practioner wasn't open this week for Thanksgiving... I also have been doing the whole "stringy mucous" but it hasn't had any bloody show.

3. I've never experienced "period cramps" for some reason, i've just always had my period and thats it- it comes, no pains at all, it goes... so Contracions feel like???????

i had the same problem with my second child... I was leaking something but didnt know if it was just alittle pee coming out or what so i ignored it the first day( dont do that) the following day it was still going on so i called the hospital and they checked me and sure enough it was my bag of waters leaking. now on the green discharge its probably an infection of some sort. did they test you for GBS already? But before i started leaking my mucus plug came out acouple days before so it might be time for you I had her at 37 weeks so good luck and dont be scared to call the hospital. if you wait to long and your leaking your baby can get an infection. good luck

The discharges that are usually green are foul smelling/"fishy". The cottage cheese and no smell is usually yeast infection. Most other diagnoses have burning with urination and back/leg pain. Let the doc know before self treating. Should want to test it. If it was meconium, it would be tarry black.

My water broke after a few hours of constantly feeling like I had to have a BM. It came out in a huge gush and then leaked constantly after that. The contrations started 2 mins apart and lasted a long time until that epidural shot. They were very bad. Felt like someone squeezing my insides. There could be a leak in the amniotic sac if you feel it is amnitoic fluid. Sorry, but I agree with the smell test.

Sounds terrible, but it is all worth it. Congrats.

Ok, so I know this sounds gross, but the nurses at my parenting class (when I had my first child) said that the simplest way to discern between urine and amniotic fluid was to change your undergarments each time they get wet and smell. Urine has an odor, whereas the amniotic fluid does not. I never did try this, because it just seemed to out of the ordinary to smell my undies each time I went to the restroom. Good Luck.

Oh yeah, and contractions....well you will know them if you get them, it is the tightening of your uterus and/or lower back. It all gets really tight. If they are far apart...more than 20 minutes apart, those are practice contractions...when they get close like every 8-10 minutes you definitely need to call your practitioner. Oh yeah, and they really take your breath away and are pretty painful. This last pregnancy was the first time I got them, as for my first child I was induced and didn't feel too much, and I am not much of a "cramper" either on my monthly visits.

Again,
Good Luck!

1. When my water broke I had a sudden rush of water. it came pretty quickly and there was a lot. If your water dose brake don't stress you still have a while before your bub will come.
2. It sounds like you have a yeast infection. Very common in pregnant women. Tell your doctor at your next appointment. The treatment is just a cream no worries.
3. Sounds like braxton hicks. Contractions feel similar.

Good Luck with the birth

Call your doctor about the discharge tonight. He/she should have an answering service, and you should probably let him know about it. I can't remember for sure, but I think that the green discharge could be meconium (sp?) - which is "waste" from the baby. Sometimes babies will evacuate their bowels before birth, and if it is meconium, your doctor needs to know about it ASAP.

As far as contractions, I can't really help you on that one. I've had one baby, but labor was induced. I did technically have contractions a few times before he was born, but I never felt them. Then, when they decided to induce labor, my contractions were not really like "normal" contractions, in that from beginning to end, they were intense. I believe that during "normal" contractions, you should start to feel them leading up to the "worst" part, and then they taper off to nothing, until the next one starts - kind of like a wave.

Good luck! I hope you have a short labor and delivery!

Well you will know when your water breaks because it comes gushing out if your lying down, if you think your water might have broken but it is just leaking you babys head is like a plug keeping the water from comming out, so lie down and then you will be able to tell. I dont know about green discharge, it is supposed to be whiteish, but when i had my son my discharge was slightly green but it turned out i had a small infection so i would just talk to your dr about it, and congrates on the new baby !!!!

If you're peeing, you'll be able to stop the flow. Amniotic fluid, not so much.

Your discharge sounds infected!

Contractions will make your uterus hard, and feels like a knot, or cramping.

Green is a sign of infection. I would say go to the hospital ASAP. That could make for big trouble for both you and your baby. I hope everything goes alright.
