The Doctor on call at the hospital said I could not give him anything until he is 6 months to 12 months old. He said that I could give him 1 teaspoon and a half of infant tylenol (0.8ml+0.4ml)but that is for pain not a cough and congestion. What do can I do, I dont want to give him too much medicine but I dont want him to suffer either. He is about 16 lbs

If a doctor advised against it, I wouldn't chance it. Try a humidifier and letting your baby sleep propped up (maybe in his carrier). I don't know of anything you can give a baby that young for a cough that is not prescribed by a doctor.

First of all let me say wow. 16 lbs at 3 months. My daughter just turned one and she weighs 15 lbs 9.5 oz. He can take pedia care.
I believe his dose would be 1 dropper (0.8) I have a dosing chart. It is at www.steeplechasepedi.com/Pediacare_Dose.htm
it says 1/2 dropper for 3 month old, but since he weighs more it is 1 dropper for 12-17 lbs. Good Luck.

I wouldnt worry too much but I also would never give a baby that young honey, there is no need for it. A baby doesnt need to have stuff like that in his system when his digestive system is still developing. I definitely wouldnt give a baby raw honey that was taken from a hive and stored in a jar, no way. Tell your babysitter you dont want your baby having honey as he/she is too young and you would rather he or she did not give the baby any.

Do not give a infant that young any med unless you have the OK from a doc. Use a humidifier with water only.
