Oh yes - many times: the movie & on stage.
It's one of my dad's faves! I really enjoy it, too. ;)
Oh...and I don't have a particularly fave song - I love the whole thing & sing along loudly everytime I watch it. So, I should really just stick with watching the movie @ home, huh? LOL And maybe I should quit yodeling along w/ Gwen - it drives my hubby crazy! (But he's never seen Sound of Music & I keep trying to get him to...maybe he doesn't want me to sing along...hmmm)

Yeah, I love " the Sound of Music" and it is funny you should mention it, but "Maria" sounds just like my granddaughter, too. She fits it to a tee, She's a darling, she's a demon and she's a lamb, boy, you should see the stuff she puts her mom thru. But she sings like an angel. She knows most of "Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti" she sang it for me yesterday and she is such a beautiful little girl, she looks a lot like her mommy. Dark hair, and eyes, her hair used to be long until she cut it for about the 3rd time, and her personality is so like her mommy's, too. But I love them both dearly and would give them the world if I could.
The song "Edlewiess" is such a beautiful song, too, bless my homeland forever. But I also liked when the Mother was singing to Maria ,"Climb every Mountain." I sang that song in grade school.
Hey, I have a niece that used to watch the show 2 or 3 times a day!! Till she wore out her sister's video...
The one boy on there that is so quiet, reminds me of my grandson, too, most of the time, but he can be a little demon, too.

I've saw it whaen I was little. The only song that rings in my head is 'Do Re Mi' because I was in this community choir and we warmed up with that song for every single, solitary rehearsal. I wanted to kill myself after rehearsal 10. I do like some musicals, But my absolute favorite is 'RENT' I saw the movie first and then I saw the actual show!

I was obsessed with that movie when I was a kid. My grandmother took me to the Von Trapp lodge in Vermont for my birthday when I was 10, and I was really hoping to meet the real Maria but she was away. I wrote her a little note and left it there for her, and a few weeks later she actually wrote me back. I still have the letter. I actually have 2 books that were autographed by her, and the letter, which was signed by her.
Anyway...my favorite song from the movie is "Edelweiss."

My Favorite Things and I Must Have Done Something Good are great songs...and I also have a fondness for the goat song Julie and the kids preform during the puppet show...really cute! It is one of my favorite movies of all time!
Oh and another thing...when I was little we did the "Goodbye" song for parent teacher night one night so I am fond of that one too.

I love it when Captain Von Trapp sings Edlewiess at the festival knowing that he's leaving his homeland...he gets all choked up and all the Austrians in the audience join in and sing it. A beautiful love song for their country, which would never be the same. so moving.

Yep. I like My Favorite Things. I don't think that's the title but that's the song I like the best. Oh and the Farewell Goodnight song.
