a coral reef is a community of living organisms that depend on each other for food, protection and proliferation, they vary in color according to their surroundings, season of the year, amount of light, food, predation and mating seasons. The coral reefs usually reproduce during the high tides of the full moon and do so by releasing spores into the water that is fertilized by male spores also released and carried by the flow of water. Many organisms like clams, shrimps, crabs, anemones, and fish - including sharks - make the coral reefs its habitat. They depend on coral for nutrients, disguise, individual hygiene, and reproducing grounds. The largest coral reef in existence is The Great Coral Barrier in Australia,It extends in roughly a northwest-southeast direction for more than 1,250 miles (2,000 km), at an offshore distance ranging from 10 to 100 miles (16 to 160 km), and has an area of some 135,000 square miles (350,000 square km). It has been characterized, somewhat inaccurately, as the largest structure ever built by humans.
