Your GPA is only one thing that colleges look at. They look at your SAT and/or ACT scores and extracurriculars pretty hard, too. Obviously, it depends on the school you want to go to, and having a high GPA is important, but you can get into a good college without having a 4.0.

GPAs count, but Admissions also look at community service, extra curriculars, etc. If your GPA isn't the greatest be sure to address that in your personal statement (for example, maybe you started working 20 hours a week and your GPA dropped from a 3.8 to a 3.5). A well written personal statement goes a long way. Good luck!

Your GPA is something that you should try and keep up on, but it is not the deciding factor for colleges. Extra-curricular activities, volunteer work, and things like that are important too. More so than GPA is your SAT scores (or ACT), these scores show your potential or something...

No, but you should have a couple years of a foreign language under your belt, math at least up to pre-calc, decent writing skills, and show some kind of club, sport, etc involvement from your time in HS.

I think my GPA was a 3.7 when I started college.

No, colleges look at many other options other than your grade point average. Colleges also look at things like class ranking, sports, leadership, SAT, ACT, and extracurricular activities. As long as it is reasonably high (3.7 or up) and you are well rounded, you should be able to get into a good college.

Not necessarily, usually high school top 10% get automatic admission and a really good SAT of ACT. For a really good college, a 3.5. I really depends on what state and whether you are considering Public of Private.
