Also, there is a plastic like wallpaper that clings to glass. Makes a frosted look. You can see out. but hard to see in. Can be removed by pulling on a corner to start. I think it called wallpaper for the patio door, or some thing like that.

How big does it need to be? How about maybe like a flag or banner of some sort or some window netting? Rig up some poles on the four corners of the balcony and start at one pole and go completely around to the other 3. The window netting would be real good cause you could see out and they cant see in.

Go to your local Home Depot, Lowe's or wherever. There you can purchase lattice. It comes in wood or plastic. Put that up on your balcony. You can either use nails or the plastic zip ties. Grow ivy or morning glorys or other climbing vine up the lattice. You can also cut the lattice in sections to only cover certain areas of your balcony. If you decorate it the right way it will turn into a pleasant escape for you while not becoming an eyesore to others

You could get a big planter and plant something that vine's. I have a "Black Eyed Susan". It's very impressive, they grow either, six foot high or six foot wide. The "Morning Glory"is another one that would do good. I also saw an apartment balcony that had an awning on it. The awning sloped down from the door,to the wall of the balcony. It looked like a fort. it was really, really cool, and I was wishing I had something like that when I had my apartment. I think it was made out of tent material.(burlap?)

Along with stone, mud and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans. Microwear analysis of the Mousterian stone tools used by the Neanderthals show that many were used to work wood. The development of civilization was closely tied to the development of increasingly greater degrees of skill in working these materials.

Large Plants
Use small lattice pieces for can be perceived as decorative or use the materials that look like underpinning ..... come in variety of patterns and styles ..... decorative and private.
This time of year, easy to decorate with any number of items that would not be perceived as "hiding".....then continue as the seasons change.

A large fake or real ficus tree - you can get them fairly cheap and they are pretty full so they will obstruct her view.

is there a pier one or world market near you? if so shop inside and you may find a good deal on a screening type device to make your privacy come back to you too.

buy an indoor screen, or some sheer fabric, you can still see out, but they can't see in. they also sell metallic tint you can put on your window so all they see is mirror, but your view is unobstructed, i suggest that.
