The F'''''n psychologist actualy imagines that the question makes sense.

It makes sense to me. I go to a pain specialist once a month and I have to fill out a sheet of stuff, which is kinda silly because it's the same kinds of pain every time, lol and always 8, 9 & 10. I never just circle one number because it changes.
At least you don't have to fill out little xxx for certain pain, and oooo for other and then zzzz for numbness, etc. I just put a giant X across the front and back of the little stick person on their paper.

Is he referring to psychological pain? Or, physical pain? If it don't make sense to you, you should be honest and just tell him. Why not? I mean, if you go in there every week and fill out a stupid form that don't make sense, it's a waste of time, and he can't help you as much.

What I read in a pain group to do, is when you go to answer that question, put down the answer as if it were your worse day. That way, he knows how bad the pain gets.

I probably didn't help, but I'm not sure what type of pain he means, sorry. Maybe if you could add more to your question.

The question does make sense. A 1 would be the slightest pain you have ever felt, with a 10 being more than the most intense pain you have ever felt. For example, pain scale of 1 would be like bumping your arm on something and a scale of 10 would be like childbirth or a man passing a kidney stone. Hope this helps some.

I've endured broken ribs, a broken nose, a severed thumb (failure to pay attention to detail while operating a circular-saw), a broken arm, numerous "Jackass" style inuries while promoting my own love for adrenaline, falling off a roof or two(unscathed, thank GOD), the ever popular kick/punch to the junk, head injuries beyond counting....etc. For a numeric rating on a pain scale, I think that a broken heart/loss of a loved one is absolutely the most un-relenting pain one can experience. There is no sedative, or pain killer that can truly hinder that type of pain. If you'd like the most sensitive point on the human body as far as pain threshhold, the eye has the least resistance, I read that in a book...But I'm not about to test it. Oww!

I'm assuming you are talking about emotional pain? So, this is from a psychological point of view....

I think on a scale of 10, the pain and heartache of losing a child. As a parent with 3 adult children, the loss of one would place me a such a deep depression that I would never recover.

Sorry Folks. But you asked.

The worst pain, trust me, is when they pull your Balls out of the scrotum, wrap them (not going into that part) and them put them back and sew em up.

The healing part is the worse like suffering for 5-10 days.
yeeeeeeeeeoooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOWWWEEeeee!!!

I would have to argue with the women and the child birth thing,

I hate that question too. They kept asking me that after I had my son. I'm like..."Well it really hurts but since I just gave birth and I'm assuming that's a 10...this is like a 2....but than again what's a 1? Stubbed toe? Than this is a 7." What a dumb question!

Heartbreak, I'd say. Havent felt a physical pain worse then it yet. I think the good reason is because there is not medicine for that. What can you do when you know the only person who can help you is the person who hurt you.
