Honestly I like then both. But right now I'm looking into some more independents comics because Marvel and DC are just going for the cheap plot points.

I love DC. They seem to have all the classic hero archetypes covered. The JLA leading to Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Atom Man, Aquaman, Green Arrow and a few others. After I get past these main characters, it's a little harder to find characters that don't remind me of DCs core set.
In the DC vs Marvel fightoffs - I always find myself rooting for the DC characters.
If I had to choose between these two publishers, despite what I wrote above... I'd have to go with Marvel. The number of characters in the Marvel Universe are so deep and entertaining, that it's probably the most difficult of the publications to walk away from for me.
From teams like the Avengers (and West Coast), X-Men, Defenders, Fantastic Four and so on... to a list of heroes and anti-heroes that seem to go on and on... So many of these unique and integral to the Marvel Universe.
There is so much happening in the Marvel Universe that in comparison, the DC Universe seems smaller. 'nuf said:-)

For Marvel, it has some noteworthy stories and characters like:
Thor: Ballad of Beta Ray Bill, Silver Surfer: Parable, Spiderman: Kraven's Last Hunt, Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment, Wolverine (by Frank Miller)
But DC also has its Vertigo line and Sandman series.. e.g., Season of Mists, Ramadan, and Dream Country. And one of the best graphic novels ever is Batman - Dark Knight Returns.
Final verdict: Marvel.. because i followed most of their titles in the 80s and 90s.

In my early life.... DC.... as I grew older... Marvel.... and not because of the X-Men (yes I like the X-Men). There are lesser known characters in the Marvel Universe whose concepts and stories are vastly more complex and higher in intelligence and challenge concepts and values within society, making you think. For example.... my personal favorite is Adam Warlock, who struggled with his place in the universe, was he to be savior, destroyer, hero or villain. Was doing what seemed right, good for the greater universe or would it cause more harm than good. There are a lot of biblical themes and challenges to our current understanding of the church, all hidden under the guise of fictional stories. Much of which were Jim Starlin own personal beliefs written into the storylines.

If you only read Marvel & DC you are missing some of the best comics being made.
(I don't mean Image...they have no decent writers)

Over the past few years DC has really stepped up their game, Long live Geoff Johns and Dan Didio, and I think Grant Morrison should be nominated for comic book sainthood.

I like dc. I think thier comics are more classic than mavel's. I find the story lines have more depth and are more engaging. don't get me wrong mavel comics are great too. But dc always seems to be a notch above.

DC- I guess because I grew up on the Superman movies, Superfriends cartoon, and Wonder Woman tv show. DC is a liitle more cheesy, but fun.
