Sounds like it is just dried blood, however, if there is a bad smell it could be a bacterial infection. Monitor it for a few days, and if it doesn't go away then you need to see a OB-GYN. Good luck!

I have this problem and am not pregnant ... I did a bit of research for both of us and found the following:
Brown vaginal discharge pregnancy can be a sign of human papillomavirus or HPV. There are a lot of infections and every woman of the childbearing age has a risk of getting some in her lifetime, such as vaginosis, trichomoniasis, and monilia or yeast infection. The amount of the mucus is related much to the ovulation and pregnancy. Brown vaginal discharge pregnancy can be a sign of human papillomavirus or HPV.
HPV stands for Human Papilloma Virus. This is a very common sexually transmitted virus. An estimated 75 percent of the reproductive-age population has been infected with sexually transmitted HPV. A small fraction of men and women with HPV will develop genital warts. Another small fraction of women with HPV will develop cervical changes. Most people will have no changes.
f the color and amount of the mucus changes suddenly, you should visit a gynecologist. The normal mucus from the cervix is clear and may turn white or yellowish when exposed to the air. It may be a sign of gonorrhea or other STDs. Brown vaginal discharge pregnancy can be a sign of human papillomavirus or HPV.
Good luck - I have a visit with the doc tomorrow.

Ok, I know what this is, because I am currently 8 months pg and had the same thing happen to me. I have had reaccurant m/c so as soon as I saw mine I went to the dr and they preformed and u/s. This brownish dc is dried blood from where your baby had afixed itself to the uterine wall, which causes some bleeding. Dont worry, but tell your dr about it.
Good luck and congrats.

How far along are you? It could be an infection, or if you are late in your pregnancy it might be your mucus plug. I would call and ask your doctor. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

If it's any time before 8 months, and it continues for more than a day or so - consult your doctor
if it's over 8 months, you may be ready to deliver, but report it to your doctor anyway.

It's not uncomon to spot during the first trimester of pregnancy, it might just be spotting, however if you are having any pain you might want to talk to your doc.
