Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, otherwise known in it's supplement form as DGL, usually does the trick. These are chewable tablets that taste like a combination of strong black licorice and baby food. If you can get past the taste, this really works. They're also pretty inexpensive. They actually help heal the esophagus as well, so they're good for acid reflux.
If you have chronic heartburn and you don't want to worry about having to take something for it, keep in mind that most cases of heartburn are caused by something in the diet. Smoking, excess alcohol, and coffee can all contribute to heartburn. Those are just the usual suspects. Not as well known is that excessive carbohydrate consumption, dehydration, or PH imbalances can be the underlying cause of heartburn. If you suspect any of these, drinking Aloe Vera may give some relief. Good luck.

Licorice: A natural antacid that protects the lining of the esophagus. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice, or DGL, which is the chewable form of the herb, can also be used to protect against the formation of some ulcers by hyperacidity. Aloe: This gel helps protect and heal the delicate lining of the esophagus. The drinkable gel can be diluted for taste. Always be sure you are getting the form of aloe intended for internal use. Slippery Elm: This herb relieves symptoms of acid indigestion by healing the mucous membranes that have been irritated or injured. The herb is available in capsule form. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane): A nutritional supplement that strengthens the lining of the esophagus. Available in capsule form. Sleep: Positioning yourself on your left side or on your back encourages stomach contents to flow up into the esophagus. So if you are suffering from heartburn, try lying on your right side. And any dairy products such as milk

This book is probably the most informative and practical guide on the subject of acid reflux and heartburn that I have ever read https://tr.im/JUWUV
I was prescribed Lansoprazole which was brilliant but after two years of aching joints, extreme muscle pain which the doc gave me cortisone jags for, with some research I discovered the drug Lansoprazole was causing these rare side effects but it was I who diagnosed it NOT my doctor, I came off the drug 2 months ago, changed my diet and discovered just eating an apple stops any acid reflux, I eat an apple before bed, brilliant no acid, any time I feel the slightest sign of reflux I simply eat an apple. Apple juice is not that good nor is anything else I have tried including honey at stopping reflux.

More then likely the reason you are getting heartburn is because you do not have enough acid in your stomach. Try taking about a tablespoon of organic apple cider vinager (mix it in applesauce if you like) a day, or try drinking a small glass of grapefruit juice.

Take a table spoon of vinegar and mix in 8 oz. glass of Spring water, not tap water. The chemicals in tap water will aggrivate the problem. Drink this before every meal.see, what is happening alot of times is not that you have an over abundance of acid in your stomach, but you have too little acid and when you eat ,the food sits in your stomach and putrifies and the gases off of the food aggrivate your stomach and esophugus.for more info E-mail me at shasta5117@yahoo.com
