Because money makes the world go 'round. But if it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one. I wake up at 2 a.m., work till 9, and, depending on the day, go to class from 11 to 9 p.m. or work from 1 to 9 p.m. any time in between is either in the shower or driving. Sleep is a precious commodity.
By the way, it's the giving seasing and it's getting colder outside, especially at night. Anyone who reads this should know that your neighborhood paperboy is ALWAYS grateful for tips and will generally do extra little bonuses for you in return, such as make sure you don't get one of those wrinkled up crud papers.

My wife and I do that. Up at 3:30 AM. Go to work at 5:30 AM, arrive at work at 7:30 AM (2 hour commute). Go home at 4:30 PM, arrive home at 6:30 PM, dinner, homework, etc. Go to bed at 10:30 PM. The next day get up and start over again. 5-6 days a week.
Our trick for keeping our sanity is every Saturday or Sunday; go to the movies!
Every 2-3 months, we take a 1-3 day mini-vacation. Usually to theme parks in Orlando. 2 hour drive away for us.
Once a year we take a 9 day vacation to another state.
On nights when I am not busy, I answer questions on the Yahoo and my wife watches awful men beat up women on Lifetime.
Been doing this for 30 years. Don't blame anyone for our lives. We ALL asked for this. A faster and more complicated life.

Because to most people we are living in a material world. And for many people the quality of their life is the quality of their material posessions. I do not subscribe to this theory. I work when/where I can and live off the money I save. I travel to countries cheaply and live cheaply. I decided a while ago that I would rather go without the flash car and house etc and live as cheaply as I can and do the things I want to do; like backpack and meet people and experience different cultures.

I have to give my mother credit on what I am about to say. It is probably the only thing she ever told me that really made sense (you would have to know my mother to realize I am not being critical, just honest--LOL)
Social security and retirement should be at the beginning of our adulthood. When you need to be home raising kids, making the improvements on the house, etc.
Then when you are old and gray and have nothing at home to do (kids are raised, house is now the way you want it) that would be the time to work.
Now, of course, there is no realistic way to implement this. You couldn't have an I.O.U. for social security. But it is just a great concept to fantasize about.
I am on the downhill slide. Only one kid left at home and he is able to care for himself (he is actually an adult, but he is male so he seems younger). You will live through this period in your life. When you reach my age (51) you will look back on this time in your life and wonder how in the heck you did it. Bless all your hearts, I feel for you. It is tough.

Really I feel different. I worked crazy nuts hours running a business. The reason. i think it was to be what they call a bread winner to the mostly spoiled as **** American woman who can help you or break you. Most guys were broken after he worked himself to death to feed and house the family only for her to complain you are neglecting her and she is bored and all the guys who want to dick her are paying her more attention. If you speak this truth you are labeled an angry man or a bad person. I think not al woman but most American women are spoiled but its truly the mans fault. He cannot get it through his head that he is worthy of being happy without her.

Because most people are slaves to their jobs and the political system or they want more than they can earn on the income of one person in a marriage. I retired at 42 and never had a job because I made the things done for employment fun.

I never see adversity as a lack of God's control. I might ask why but then I have to stop and ask myself why not? What makes me so much more deserving of a perfect life. Romans 8:28a And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, way to many people stop quoting the verse there and try to ignore the second part Romans 8:28b to them who are the called according to his purpose. If we are following the will of God he will turn our adversity to good.

This is something I ask myself all the time. I don't think we were meant to live this way...but it's what we have, somehow, found ourselves to be trapped in. That we all need to be productive and responsible for ourselves is important, but - somewhere along the line - it seems to have gotten out of hand.
Perhaps we just want too much and we spend all of our lives paying for the junk that will be thrown away the day after we die?

Because this is a very greedy world we live in and the cost of things is constantly rising. Everyone wants more money in their job, if they don't get it they go on strike, thus driving up the cost of everything else.
Unfortuantely the only way this will end, will be in a war.
I don't see where we are supposed to find enjoyment in our lives if all we do is work. Your quite right.
