Self rightoues people has basta d the word so much and used it to supress minorities..
Read this from a old definition where the slaves was supressed.
(MARRIAGE - A contract made in due form of law, by which a free man and a free woman reciprocally engage to live with each other during their joint lives, in the union which ought io exist between husband and wife. By the terms freeman and freewoman in this definition are meant, not only that they are free and not slaves, but also that they are clear of all bars to a lawful marriage)
as you read, it is used to keep a group as a minority and to supress.
(no it is not a union between man and woman, originally it meant combining together, as chefs use the word quite frequently in combining ingredients)
any self rightoues person proclaiming to protect the institue of marriage (the word), is suppressing a minority group, building hatared, and thinking it is underminding there institute of marriage, which it is not)
Once again as this debate should not be happening, it is.
(as all groups should be treated equally, as the constitution says we have the right to persue happiness)
What brings happiness to some, only gives others the right to discriminate.
I also have a dream.......

I once saw a bumper sticker that read:
"4 out of 5 Baptist Divorcees Support Traditional Marriage"
I laughed my a** off!! haha... and it had a picture of Betty Bowers on it! heeheheeee
Marriage, to me, is the promise of love, forever. It is sharing one's life with another, it has nothing to do with sex or reproduction or even god for that matter. I am planning my wedding vows, and God will be nowhere near mine. I have no belief in god, whatsoever, and it will mean nothing to me, or my boyfriend.
Marriage is also an agreement made by the STATE, it is a legal contract. I believe there is some thing...sarcasim....that separates church and state..... using God as an excuse for this is lame. Marriage is no longer a promise to god, it is now a contract with the state.... which is why there is LAWS attached with it....
Weak minded, scared people do not want "gays" to get married because they are afraid that if they do, then their marriage will suddenly disappear, they will no longer be in love, all the children that they have "produced" will up and disappear, and God will hate their marriage because they live next door to a couple of... f*gs..... I don't use that language usually.... but sarcasm and anger bring it out....

The way I see it, those people have a definition of marriage based on the Garden of Eden scenario with Adam and Eve. They see that as the one true and godly ideal of marriage, and any other situation that gets called marriage undermines the sanctity of it. What kills me is the way the say "we have to save marriage," or "marriage is under attack." If the definition of marriage is expanded to include gays, will it affect James Dobson's marriage? That's what I don't get. If "marriage" is somehow affected, then won't all marriages be affected? That's insane.

The idea of marriage is to promote fertility. Yes, not everyone believes in God but the United States of America is built upon God. If you don't believe me just pick up any US coin and read it. What does it say? "In God we trust" on every single one of those coins. Even the dollar bills say "In God we trust." Again the idea is to promote fertility for procreation of life. Two men can not create life with each other. Two women can not create life with each other. Only a man and a woman can create life. If we have everyone in the world be homosexuals or lesbians the human race would go extinct. Not necessarily instantly but over time the human race would be non-existent. But if you really want to be recognized for homosexual or lesbian you can always move and go to a country where you would be recognized like: the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, or Spain. The only place that is recognized for same sex marriage in the US is Massachusetts and is only available for the residents of Rhode Island. Lesbian and homosexual marriages in the United States are not for the procreation of life.

Adam: the anticipation of divorce?
What is the sanctity of marriage? Easy: The selling of a woman from one family to another by payment of a dowry. If we're going to claim that marriage has become something more, then we have to accept marriage is not bound to tradition. If we're going to claim marriage is about giving birth to and raising healthy children, than we should not be allowing marriages of old people where the woman is post-menopausal. We should also not be allowing people with genetic birth defects to reproduce.
If you're not willing to sell your daughter for dowry or ban marriages of old people and those with birth defects, then you're going to have to realize you've got no argument against gay marriage.

I don't understand that either...if a gay/lesbian person finds another they want to spend their life with, then why not let them? It's not going to kill, or harm anyone. I know a few people that look at it from the stereotypical point of view - they think that gay/lesbian people do nothing but sleep around and never stick with one person. Maybe that's where a lot of others are coming from too? Also because, "in the bible," marriage is between a man and a woman...but the thing with that is, not EVERYone believes in God or the bible...

Easy. Heterosexuals have worked damned hard to get a 50% divorce rate and there is a growing fear that number will plummet if homosexuals are included.

Gay marriage will completely cheapen the solemn marriage vows of drunken heterosexuals getting married by Elvis impersonators in drive-through chapels in Las Vegas.

marriages is what god said men and women to go and multiply . only men and women can do that.yes i know there adoption but that's not what we are talking about here.i have no problem with homosexuality our best friend is gay. my brother in law is gay. we have had this conversation . they agree with me. some times there's thing we just cant do. i would like to be a super model but I'm 50 years old and 5 ft1 inches tall and not one designer is going to change there standards for me. a family is made up by people that love each other 2 men or 2 women or a man and a women.happy children come from homes where love lives. I'm just trying to make a point that this for me is in no way a to bash or put down gays in any way. i just think that marriage should be between a man and a women as it has been as long as people have been on this earth.........
