I've connected it to my PC using Firewire and the computer acknowledges it, but I don't have (and can't find on the net) the drivers so I still can't access it. Any suggestions? I want to be able to access it and drag the content from that hard drive to my PC hard drive...if that's possible. I'm tired of having to record using Pinnacle and just want to drag content from the cable box hard drive to my PC hard drive. ALSO, does anyone know what format the video is saved to on the cable box hard drive. Is it like MPEG or what? Thanks!

I will doubt that you will have any access to the cable box other than what you have.

The cable boxes are very capable computer systems which can be customized. The issue you will find is that your cable company has provisioned your box so that MOST of the features available on the box are disabled. USB ports, media ports etc are non-functioning due to provisional programming.

Be advised: Hacking a cable box is a federal crime....if you proceed to try to unlock the box, you do so at your own risk.....The boxes are monitored on a regular basis.
