he did indeed become a muslim, and changed his name to Yusuf Islaam. He has, however, decided to make a comeback, and the record will soon be released under the name Yusuf, and will also have on the cover "The artist formerly known as Cat Stevens". I can't wait, coz I was a huge fan of hus music.

Cat Stevens is now known as Yusuf Islam or simply Yusuf,
He Converted to Islam in 1979. He currently lives with his wife and children in London, where he is an active member of the Muslim community, and spends part of each year in Dubai.

he converted to islam during the iran crisis in the 80's & pissed off americans,in return they quit playing his stuff on the radio.
