i had to rip up carpet in my 1970 VW in order to replace the clutch cable and found it was stuck down with liquid nails kind of stuff.

Try mineral spirits and elbow grease. If that doesn't work, you can always use steel wool, which shouldn't damage the floorboard unless its rusted through.

There is an entire raft of commercial adhesive removers out there.A hair dryer or a heat gun is also helpful in the use of these
products.

there is a product that is oddly named aircraft remover and i have used this to strip paint off metal and all sorts of things off metal try that
